The number one New Years resolution for 2009 for Kansas Citians was to get out of debt. That's above loosing weight which has been number one for YEARS. That is huge to know. We are not financial planners selling investment products, our goal is to give clients tools to meet this goal and get on the road to financial freedom (rather than the bondage they might be feeling if they are one of those families enslaved to their debt) Yea, it might be radical, but I really feel that today's credit card debt is the modern day equivalent to indentured servitude of years gone by.

Good financial health has several components and may require check-ups on each. Although this is not an exhaustive list, one should consider:

Budget

Cash flow plan

Emergency funds

Will/Estate plan-even if you are young! If you have children, you need a will to tell the courts who should be their care givers. If you do not specify this, it is determined by state law.

Charitable giving goals

Debt reduction

Tax reduction

College funding

Retirement planning

Proper insurance, not too much not too little in life, health, disability, auto and home

That is a lot of stuff. We're here to help without selling you something.

It is our goal that our clients are the most informed folks in town. We believe that people who are informed make better decisions.

We believe in the general good sense outlined in the article Weather The Storm (it was an old press release). Anyway.. We also believe in the good old fashioned common sense taught by Dave Ramsey.

Check out the Financial Peace University course, it is once a week for 12 weeks designed to touch on all of the above area. It is a bargain at $95 if it shows you how to do one thing right (or better) as opposed to paying what Dave calls "stupid tax" and we've all paid it. It is a great time to turn over a new leaf with a fresh start. See http://www.daveramsey.com/fpu/home/

For those families who have additional needs, We will see clients one time free of charge to coach them over a hump or through a particular work sheet. For others who need more in depth assistance on an ongoing basis, there is free coaching available right here in our community. Pleasant Valley Church is large enough to have a great program with financial coaches in place. And the best part, it's free.
